    About Event:

    Animated Exeter takes place 18th – 23rd February 2013, at a number of venues in and around Exeter. This year the festival’s theme ‘State of Play’ is gaming and the 2013 festival will be a completely new experience. The festival will be packed with fabulous gaming ideas; from game jams and theme nights, to a specially commissioned participatory game through the city, run by Slingshot – the brains behind Bristol’s Infest.

    Both the gaming and VFX industries are recruiting and talent scouts from Mind Candy and Double Negative will be visiting Animated Exeter.

    Animated Exeter is the leading public animation festival in the UK. Initiated in 1999 and developed by Exeter City Council, Animated Exeter is now an independent festival, attracting an audience of around 20,000 annually. The festival takes place over February half term with the following aims, to excite and inspire young people, encourage and foster talent and showcase high quality animation.

    The festival now shows in the region of 140 animated films featuring work from the best in the business. Over the years attracting high-profile guests from the international animation scene, including Airman Animations, Ray Harryhausen, Plimpton, Templeton and Michael Dudok de Wit.

    Animated Exeter 2013 animation competitions are open for entries:

    Screen Out Loud – open to any UK independent animator, over 18. Deadline 15 Feb

    The Graduate – now open to 2012 graduates from animation courses in the UK. Deadline 15 Feb
